MaryJanice Davidson takes her characters and brings them to life...and death, to create a world that the reader finds interesting and hilarious all at the same time. Betsy is down-to-earth and matter-of-fact. I just don't know what else to say except the Queen Betsy books are must reads!

I do not understand how others have rated this total waste time with over a star. The character build is redundant and immature. With the vampire genre, some character development would have been nice. The language is lazy, sophomoric and totally unbelievable for a character over the age of 13. The author writing style and character development is summed up quite easily in her own Author's Note as being "lazy".
This series is not the usual vampire story line. Lots of light fun to read.

Queen Betsy is a very unusual vampire! She doesn't like to be the Queen, but can't avoid it because she is 'different'! She is impervious to holy water, crosses, and such stuff.

She has a job in a store selling very high quality shoes, (Jimmy Cho, etc) where she gets a discount! Unfortunately, she gets fired because
a group of malcontents who don't like her are attempting to destroy her with a major betrayal.

If you like non-serious and twisty plots, you'll like this book!

I have to admit, I'd seen this series out for a while and always pushed it away, thinking that it was a cliche vamp chick-lit book and would probably annoy me. Well Audible had a sale on all of her works and I thought, what the heck, I'll give it a whirl. I got the first book and listened to it in a few days, and I have to say that i actually enjoyed it. Although the leading character is a little annoying, it was a fun read and i found myself wanting to know what happened next. Which is a good sign.

So i got the second book, which...well, wasn't as good as the first. Firstly it was MUCH shorter. The first book was almost eleven hours, where as the second was a measly 5. Shorter books are OK, but it's annoying to pay the same price for something that's only half the size. Don't get me wrong, i can't stand books that are 500 pages long but only have 300 pages of content.

Anyway, regardless of the length, the content wasn't there. The leading lady, while sort of annoyingly cute in the first book, was downright obnoxious in the second. She was so vain and shallow, that eventually I could barely listen to it any more. I couldn't understand why so many people liked her. She had all these friends who loved her so much, but she was so self centered that i didn't understand why. Eric, the hot manly vampire is crazy for her, but why? She's so unlikable and childish.

Another thing that started to drive me crazy was the writing style. I got really tired of almost every other sentence being a pun. I can't count the number of times she talks about barfing. Betsy reminded me of ME in middle school, but the woman is 30, not 13. Her childish nature grated on my nerves, to the point where I was hoping she might actually be dead in the end.

I don't plan on reading any more of this series. She very well might grow up and become a more mature person as the series progresses, but I'm cutting my losses and running now.

I couldn't stop laughing. Total homerun, way out of the park. This book is Vampire chick lit, in a good way. For humor, I rate this book and, in fact, this whole series up with the Spellman Files by LIsa Lutz, which made me laugh constantly. The Spellman Files: A Novel For other good vampire humor see Christopher Moore, especially his novel, You Suck You Suck: A Love Story. Or if you want funny with a female protagonist and haven't read the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, then you need to start there. One for the Money (Stephanie Plum, No. 1)

You don't have to start with the first book in this series, but I recommend that if you haven't yet read it then buy and read, Undead and Unwed. Undead and Unwed (Queen Betsy, Book 1)

I had read Undead and Unwed and couldn't wait to get my hands on the second book in the series. These books remind me so much of "Sex and the City", which is one of my all-time favorite shows. Betsy is so sassy and I enjoyed following along with her relationship with Sinclair. Overall, it is a great book and I am getting started on the third book in the series tonight!!!

**I do think this book is mainly for women readers, so guys beware...this might not be the right book for you.

Well, I still love the characters but I am tired about Sinclair always getting mad with Betsy. Don't get me wrong, I know there has to be problems but I don't like them lasting almost half of the book. I also feel the author needs to have them sit down and have a "talk". I feel like they just make up with the sex and not talk about all their issues. Maybe it will happen in the 5th book but I am not holding my breath. And the only time Sinclair tells her how much she means to him - is when they make love when she hears him mentally, I would like him to say it. Call me old fashion. And - Sinclair, put down the stupid newspaper. I liked it better when he was chasing after her, at least he showed her some interest then.

I like this book 4, as it tells more on the relationship between Betsy and Eric (shows some development).

Did anyone recon that the 'She had made Sinclair, way back when ...' was meant to be 'She had made Sinclair, way back then ...'

Fourth line on page 10. I know it is very unlikely to have typo on a novel, but hey, I have seen one (more than one typo in fact!) on other romance novel.

...I still don't think I'll keep reading this series. I'm not going to sumerize the book, Amazon already does that for us. I was really excited about these books as they reminded me of Real Vampires Have Curves (Glory St. Clair, Book 1) Gerry Bartlett's Real Vampires series. (Which is much better if you ask me!) The characters are dull, some of the dialogue is kind of corny and the storylines throughout the books aren't very developed. For example, the serial killer wasn't mentioned much, what ever happened with Jessica and Officer Nick and why is Jon so gung ho about writing Besty's story? Maybe if I can't find anything else to read I'll pick up the next book but that's a big if.

These books are a hoot. I enjoy the 'devil wears Prada' meets 'Interview with the vampire' I recommend this book to people who like to read and like to read a lot. It's a quick, but fun read.
